Historic Presbyterian Church
in Eagle, Alaska.
The Eagle Historical Society
Museum, located in a house
that dates from the 1920s.
A more modern house (and
for sale!), located just east of
the main part of Eagle. Note that this picture was a little
earlier in the day as the low cloudcover was just starting to
move in.
This large cottonwood tree
(one of the largest in the area) appears to dwarf the
main business area of Eagle, seen in the lower left. The photo is
actually taken from a grassy airstrip bordering Fort Egbert while the
main business area lies at an elevation about 10 m lower.
Part of the well preserved
(but long abandoned) Army outpost, Fort Egbert,
located immediately west of Eagle on the banks of the Yukon River.
Looking east from Fort Egbert
towards the museum and residential area of Eagle.
The windmill in the center of the photo dates back more than 50 years.
